free comic book day

Free Comic Book Day on May 6th!

Free Comic Book Day is a day when some of your local comic book stores give away free comics. Free Comic Book Day is a fun way to get into new comics or to try comics that you haven’t seen before. Usually the comics are single issues and are sometimes the first in the series, which is great for nerds who are just getting into comics or who are looking for something new.

The whole event is very fun. Even though the lines tend to be long, some comic book stores have fun events for participants while they wait in line. In addition, depending on the comic book store, sometimes give out additional free comics for people who dress up in costume.

Please see below for some of the participating comic book stores in Chicago. Please remember that the comic book stores purchase the free comics for your enjoyment so if you like something, please patronize some of the non-free comics in their stores! If a comic book store isn’t listed below, please ask your comic book store if they are participating in Free Comic Book Day as not all stores participate.
